It’s ‘World Rabies Day’ today and on the 28th of September every year.
This is also the date that French chemist and microbiologist, Louis Pasteur, died. He is credited with developing the world’s first rabies vaccine.
According to Identipet “This year’s theme for #WorldRabiesDay is ‘Facts not Fear’. Let us raise awareness and spread Rabies Facts to dispel misconceptions about the disease.”
FACT: Rabies is 100% preventable through vaccination – saving the lives of dogs and humans alike.
“Learning how to interact with animals is a huge step in fighting this disease. No bites=no rabies. Teach children how to read body language, to not separate fighting animals and to not approach unfamiliar pets.”
THE SOLUTION? Vaccinate!
“Vaccinating dogs protects people! Get your pets vaccinated every year. Local animal welfare organizations, rescue groups and shelters often offer low-cost vaccinations, spaying and neutering, and other routine care.” Identipet
